Philippe Phan – Director 

After completing his degrees in Commerce and Law, Philippe initially joined one of Australia’s major financial institutions, the 'Commonwealth Bank of Australia'. Prior to joining H&M Accountants, he worked with another mid-tier accounting practice in the Newcastle area where he provided taxation, financial and financing advice to clients across a wide section of industries. 

Philippe has extensive experience in providing business management advice to all size enterprises including business structuring, asset protection, succession planning (buying and selling of businesses), business performance monitoring, cashflow forecasting, strategic planning, estate planning and asset protection. He also provides advice to self-managed superannuation funds in areas including super fund borrowing. 

Philippe believes in a wholistic approach in providing taxation and business services. His advice not only addresses the business’ immediate needs, but also encompasses future strategies for both the business and its owners. 

Philippe is a Fellow of CPA Australia, a Board member for a not-for-profit organisation Head Start Acquired Brain Injury Service', and is on the board of directors for a not-for-profit organisation; User Voice. He keeps active with regular games of tennis.

Ben Demery – Director 

Whilst completing his Commerce degree at the University of Newcastle, Ben undertook a traineeship with a local mid-tier accounting firm and subsequently joined H&M Accountants as a Manager. During his years of experience, Ben has dealt with clients across a vast range of industries. 

Ben is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and is a Committee member for the Kotara Bears Rugby League Club. Ben is kept busy spending time with his young family. 

Ben enjoys providing advice to business owners which helps them improve their businesses and achieve their goals. Along with being able to attend to the taxation and compliance needs of businesses and self-managed superannuation funds, Ben's areas of expertise include business performance monitoring and improvement, business structuring and strategic planning. 

Ben has a hands-on approach with his clients ensuring that he is available to provide advice when needed and enjoys developing strong relationships.
